Another small portrait

Another small portrait study measuring 4.75 x 6.25
done on Strathmore steel gray artagain paper

I believe I found the support that I like besides the Wallis’s sanded paper. It is relatively smooth yet will take a couple layers of pastel without any problem and blends easily.

Pastel Portrait Study

A pastel study on a 9 x 12 inch white charcoal paper. This was a very hard study though not sure if it was the texture of the paper, the whiteness of the paper, or both. But had a very hard time getting the tones of the colors deep enough. Now I know why pastel artists say it is better to use a toned surface.
